Oh yeah. I’m kind of excited about this one. How about branching out into one of the toughest, most fun competitions I’ve seen in quite a while? I’m talking about the Tough Mudder! A series of obstacles – obviously including lots of mud – that take competitors through the trenches, under the “Devil’s Beard”, in mud pits of ice, and up a slippery 1/4 pipe? Hells yeah!

I’ve been running quite a bit, on and off, for the last several years. At one point when I lived in Texas I was going 7 miles at least 4 times a week. Now I’m only doing 2-3, maybe 3 to 4 days a week. But I think this competition could have me riled up to push harder. And what better way to make a team for this grueling competition than to join Team Beef!

What do ya say? Think Team Beef can prove to be a Tough Mudder?!?

There’s a competition in Poplar Bluff, Missouri October 13 and 14 of this year. (There’s also events that month near Austin and in South Carolina and Kentucky, either way I like the time line of October.) I think that’s plenty of time for some folks to amp up their workout schedule. Tough Mudder provides a training schedule for the event, and having a team compete would be a great way to build friendships and do something awesome. Most importantly, Tough Mudder is a supporter of the Wounded Warrior Project and to date has raised more than $2,880,000 for the project.

So what do ya say? Any one out there want to put together a Team Beef for the event? We’re looking for morale supporters too! Kelly Rivard has already volunteered!

And I’m just gonna throw it out there, I’m looking for some sponsors. The entry fee and travel add up a little bit for this college student.

Have you participated in a Tough Mudder competition before? What’s your advice?
