Thankful Thursday – Appreciate Farmers and Ranchers

Here it is Thursday and there have been many noisy affairs in this week’s news. Paula Deen shared her battle with Type 2 Diabetes, the internet has been on fire with the PIPA and SOPA stories, and McDonald’s continued their Meet The Farmers Campaign through a promoted Twitter hashtag. I have been busy with classes and feel like I hit the ground running and barely let the dust settle before hitting the hay for the night.

Last week a friend shared these videos from 2008 released by the Animal Agriculture Alliance featuring actor Brad Johnson; himself a ranch kid who moved on to a career in acting. There videos are short minute each, so take a few moments to reflect on their message and how it still applies today.

How will you show appreciation for farmers and ranchers next time you sit down for a meal?

How are balance and moderation a part of your dietary choices?

Just a couple thoughts on Paula Deen.

    1. We can love Paula and her recipes all we want. It’s still our personal choice what we eat and how much. I think moderation is important in all that we do, even Paula herself says that.

    2. I find it ironic that Food Network has been promoting Paula’s Son’s new show “Aint’ My Momma’s Cookin.” A show taking Paula’s recipes and making them healthier. Now we know why.

    3. Millions of people follow the Pioneer Woman and adore her. PW loves and uses butter every bit as much as Ms. Deen.
