As a society, we have an ever-increasing desire to learn more about where our food comes from. However, seeing as fear and emotion (looking at you Food Inc.) sell much easier than truth and science, we seem to have an uphill road to climb when trying to share educational material or documentaries about food and agriculture.
Every single day, we work with processes in agriculture that are founded on science. Yet, I still have many conversations with urban consumers that are surprised to find just how much we utilize science when finding what is best for raising crops and livestock.
Fortunately, there are a number of resources available to help share agriculture education, both online and in the classroom. Below are a few resources I have identified. Let me know in the comments below of others you are aware of.
