Land O’Lakes Pays Tribute With The Farmer by Amelia Barr

Remember when RAM Trucks paid tribute to farmers and ranchers with their 2013 campaign featuring Paul Harvey’s “So God Made A Farmer”? The video was a great success stirring conversation and emotion with impressive scenes from America’s heartland. The video debuted during the Super Bowl and has since garnered 20+ million views online. Take a moment to step back and reflect on that moment.

This year, Land O’Lakes brings us into 2017 with a new tribute featuring The Farmer by Amelia Barr (1831-1919). The video features scenes from many crop and livestock farms and the people on the land. The co-op shared this video as a tribute to their members and their contribution to Feeding Human Progress.

The video, which debuted as shorter segments during high-profile college football bowl games the last week of December 2016, is sure to become another classic and we should be thankful for companies featuring these communties in their storytelling.

The Farmer by Amelia Barr

the-farmer-land-o-lakesThe king may rule o’er land and sea,
The lord may live right royally,
The soldier ride in pomp and pride,
The sailor roam o’er ocean wide;
But this or that, whate’er befall,
The farmer he must feed them all.

The writer thinks, the poet sings,
The craftsmen fashion wondrous things,
The doctor heals, the lawyer pleads,
The miner follows the precious leads;
But this or that, whate’er befall,
The farmer he must feed them all.

The merchant he may buy and sell,
The teacher do his duty well;
But men may toil through busy days,
Or men may stroll through pleasant ways;
From king to beggar, whate’er befall,
The farmer he must feed them all.

The farmer’s trade is one of worth;
He’s partner with the sky and earth,
He’s partner with the sun and rain,
And no man loses for his gain;
And men may rise, or men may fall,
But the farmer he must feed them all.

God bless the man who sows the wheat,
Who finds us milk and fruit and meat;
May his purse be heavy, his heart be light,
His cattle and corn and all go right;
God bless the seeds his hands let fall,
For the farmer he must feed us all.

  1. Beautiful videography, nice thought, and nice effort on the part of Land O’Lakes. I know the author died nearly 100 years ago, but we have to change with the times. Women make up 51 percent of the population. It pains me to hear and read he, he, he, his, men, men, men, king, he, he, he, man, men, men, he, man, his, his, his, his, he.
