Do you ever want just five more minutes in the morning? Maybe its just too cold. Or maybe that alarm went off just as you were about to set the last dam in the irrigation ditches. Whatever it may be, I am sure we’ve all had those mornings where we just can’t get going. Honestly, I have plenty of those, but warmer weather and longer days seems to make getting out of bed so much easier!
While most Americans are rushing their mornings, trying to get the kids to school, or make it to the office in time, Farmers and Ranchers have it pretty good. I love getting an early start once the weather gets warm. Watching that big golden orange ball creep over the horizon makes the early start worth it. Whether it be from the hay-field, horse back, or in the barn door, watching that sunrise is sure to get me going every single day.
I have seen some pretty awesome sunrises in my days. Some of the more memorable have been far from home. On the western slopes of the Big Horns in Wyoming, I got to watch the sunrise of the mountain peaks, where even the clouds were below the horizon. The sky lights up long before the sun ever reaches over those peaks, but when it does, the view is breathtaking (Especially standing on the canyon rim overlooking the ice capped peaks in August).
Or in the Panhandle of Texas where the seemingly endless horizon holds so many colors, its indescribable. I could watch the black night turn to light every morning from the feedyard and watch the stars disappear one by one until that sun rose over that distant, flat horizon.
