The Morrill Act of 1862 (Land Grant Act) gave each state a grant of federal land to establish public institutions to fulfill the growing demand for agriculture and technical educations. This founded the Land Grant Colleges across the country with a focus on agriculture education, research, and extension. These institutions still exist today and serve as great resources, not only for quality education but also as a resource for continued research for the improvement of modern food production. The Extension arm of these Universities serves to disperse information learned with farmers, ranchers, and the public concerned with agriculture and food.

On this page, you will find a number of these Land Grant Universities from across the country, links to their colleges of Agriculture, Extension homepages, and other noted online resources. Use this page as a resource to find local and national resources for education and information about modern food and agriculture.
